Guidelines for listing on EireFree.com
In order to register and list on the directory, there are a few basic requirements.
-
You need an email address
Each registration requires a unique email address to access your listing(s). You can enter more than one business using the same registration account, but each listing will still require an email address for contact purposes and security reasons.
-
Your business, group or organisation MUST be in Ireland.
This is to improve the quality of the directory, so that it is easier and more effective for local businesses and tradesmen. The simple rule of thumb is; if you have Ireland as your postal address, you can list.
-
You upload your information yourself.
In order for the directory to remain free you need to either upload your business information yourself, or find a trusted friend or colleague to do this for you. Unfortunately we do not have the resources to be able to upload directory listings on your behalf.
That's it really. If you tick all these boxes and abide by the rules, you can enjoy free advertising on EireFree.com, and upload unlimited information about your business, products and services that can be seen throughout Ireland.
What next? How do I make an entry?
-
First, you need to register on the site. Click the register button and fill in the form. You need a unique email address (not already registered) in order to submit the form.
-
Next, check your email. You have been sent a link to confirm your registration which you need to click on to confirm.
-
Now you can log in. Go to the grey bar at the top of the screen and fill in your username and password, and click Login.
-
Once you have logged in, now click the 'Add a listing' button and you will be directed to the entry form.
-
Fill in all information as necessary. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
-
Agree to the Rules by checking the box, and type the safety code in the field provided. Click Send and your listing will be automatically added to the directory.
To update this listing at any time, simply navigate to the entry and then log in. Two little buttons will appear, Edit & Delete. Click Edit and you will be returned to the entry form.
NOTE: After editing or working on your listing, please ensure that you always save the form (including the safety code) instead of just closing the window. Not doing so may cause a problem the next time you need to access the listing.
Tips for a better listing
The better you make your listing, the more feedback you will get from it. It costs nothing to produce a good listing, it just requires a little bit of hard work to get it as good as you can.
- Take advantage of all the options available to you and fill in all the fields that you can. If you have a mobile number, email address or web page, make sure they are all in there. It gives different customers, multiple ways of contacting you. Remember - they might not all be able to contact you during regular working hours if they work themselves...
- List your business opening hours and the days of the week you work, so your customers know when they can get you on the phone, or call into your shop etc.
- Add the co-ordinates for the map - especially if you are based in a rural area. This is a great time saver, so you are not tied up giving directions over the phone.
- Supply as much information as possible and try not to generalise. For example, if you sell household electricals, list them;- washing machines, tumble dryers, fridge freezers etc. It helps the customer find what they are looking for and is more likely to come up on a search...
- Try and upload a really good picture, so your listing stands out and people can recognise you. Even if it is only a shot of your shop front or van, it makes all the difference.
Did you know...?
...You can add your listing to the main category as well as the sub-categories, putting you higher up the list.
For example:- If you are an Auctioneer and have listed in the sub-category 'Auctioneers' you are still able to list in the main category 'Property & Auctioneers' if you wish.
